Small world beach

Since both my big boys enjoyed playing with the dinosaur small world I set out a few weeks ago, I have tried a few different variations including;
insects,
and cars - but they definitely like the dinosaurs the best.
This weekend I set up a beach scene which they both really enjoyed.
The two little people on the beach had a picnic,
made sand castles,
went for a swim (and predictably for boys) were attached by the shark!

  1. I think these little worlds are really enticing. I have just read Gulliver's travels to B and I think this play idea would be timely. I am really admiring your play box with sides. Great idea
    thanks

  2. I love all of these! I've just been out to buy a bunch of pebbles and other bits and pieces for small world play at preschool. It never ceases to engage the kids, and I find it is actually quite calming too. Tomorrow I'm planning on a frog pond theme.

  3. A frog pond sounds like a great idea - we might have to try that next!

  5. The water in the beach scene is actually a couple of squares of scrap booking paper. I bought a big pack of mixed paper in a spotlight sale ages ago and we use it for all types of craft.
