Summertime

Summer time  .... and the living is easy.

We have just got back from our Christmas New Year break on the south coast.Lovely easy days of swimming, eating and playing.

We are now back in Perth but the boys are still making the most of their extended summer holidays.

Nothing promotes some out door fun like adding water.

Bali Bali

Where has the year gone? It is May already and I haven't visited this space for a long time. There are various reasons - so much to do and so little time, hubby's parents have both been quite ill which has taken up a lot of his time over the past 6 months, and then I have just got out of the habit and I'm so far behind I don't know what to blog about now.

But enough excuses. We have just got back from a lovely family holiday to Bali so I will simply let you enjoy a few photos.

It was our first overseas holiday as a family so Bali was a relatively easy option. Only a few hours flying time, same time zone and easy family accommodation when we got there.

We didn't do too much sight seeing and we spent most of our holiday hanging out by the pool but it was very relaxing.

Apart from me getting an ear infection no one got sick ... which always makes a holiday much more enjoyable.

 I hope to be back with you again soon. Fingers crossed!

Easter roundup

 We had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed some great family time.

It started with a spot of baking (Ginger bread bunnies) for the end of term canteen and then we headed to the south coast for a family holiday.

 The boys enjoyed some motor bike riding and playing (on their uncles bike) ...

 and of course there was lots of egg hunting on Easter Sunday.

On Monday we took all three boys on their first longer bush walk to Castle Rock in the Porongurup Ranges. 

Junior walked all the way, Rascal road on Aussie Dad's shoulders for some of it and then managed the climb to the top for the spectacular but rather dizzying lookout, while I carried Puggle who really wanted to get down and run the whole way!

A lovely week away and some great family time.

Play dough

I usually make a new batch of play dough ever month or two but we are currently still playing with our Christmas batch (green with red sparkles). This went on holidays with us to keep the boys entertained when we needed a little down time.
Junior has taken to making little playdough dioramas using small plastic figurines - usually dinosaurs or astronauts or on this occasion both.

We play at Rottnest

I was going to write about our weekend at Rottnest last week but time just seems to have got away with me. We had a fabulous time at our favourite little overseas destination (well a short ferry ride from Perth anyway).
Rottnest is a nice relaxing island close to Perth with very little traffic and great beaches for families.
We did a little bit of everything - swimming, bike riding, playing in the playground, snorkelling, paddling, playing in the sand, collecting treasures and relaxing.
A perfect spot for a family weekend away. Just a shame about the sleeping bit!

Beachcombing

As I mentioned in my previous post we have just returned from a family holiday in Broome. Apart from lots of swimming we spent most of our playtime last week beachcombing!
The boys loved wandering along the sand, searching for crabs, splashing in rock-pools, collecting shells and discovering all kinds of critters. The boys were generally very wet and sandy after a short stroll but had a ball.
As we were staying right on the beach we also enjoyed watching the sunset over the ocean each evening. This was very popular with Aussie Dad because he could enjoy a beer at the sunset bar as well!

Broome Time

Last week we had a lovely family holiday in Broome and enjoyed a little bit of winter warmth. It was our first family holiday to Broome and we splashed out and stayed at the Cable Beach Club Resort.
It is a bit more expensive than some of the other accommodation options but with everything supplied in the family bungalows it made for a very easy family holiday.
I had great plans to take the kids to see all the sights of Broome but I think we all needed some relaxation time so we spent most of the week wandering along the beach and hanging out by the family pool. Junior and I both celebrated birthdays while we were away and my darling husband looked after the boys and packed me off to the day spa for a bit of pampering as a birthday present - all birthdays should be like this!
Now we are back to rainy Perth but have some fantastic memories and plans to do it again next year - if I can convince Aussie Dad!
